Just after midnight on New Year’s Day, Smithers RCMP responded to a multiple burn victims report on the 4500 block of Henry Road.
An initial investigation indicated 30 to 40 people were around a bonfire when something was thrown into the flames, causing an explosion.
Police said several people received minor to significant burns and were transported to hospital.
None were believed to be life threatening.
Mounties ask anyone who has photos, videos, or information of the incident to contact the Smithers detachment.
