Open house discussing passing lanes

Members from the Ministry of Transportation are holding an open house throughout Wednesday to inform residents about a new passing lane project.

Currently, the ministry is designing a 2 km eastbound passing lane east of Telkwa to improve safety and mobility. The are also looking at improving the rest area.

Ministry District Manager Carl Lutz says that residents have had a mixed reaction to the project.

“I think people just want to express their concerns about what they have and give some feedback of some of their experiences on the highway and just let us know where they seen concerns,” he says.

This is 1 of 7 new proposed BC passing lanes along highway 16.

The open house is at the Telkwa Community Hall until 8 PM Wednesday.
