The BC Highway Patrol issued over 2,100 tickets and warnings in their ‘Slow Down, Move Over’ campaign, around 10% of which were in northern BC.
Although our educational campaign for ‘Slow Down, Move Over’ is over, our officers will be paying attention to motorists failing to slow down for official vehicles all year,

We need to see the 230 roadside worker fatalities decrease to zero, so please save lives by continuing to slow down and move over when you see roadside workers present.
According to the Highway Patrol, drivers who do not slow down and move over for official vehicles could be on the hook for a $173 ticket, or face criminal charges if a worker is hurt or killed.
They also executed a Canada-wide immigration warrant during the Slow Down Move Over campaign, which initiated 20 criminal investigations.
A rifle and scope, loaded 9mm magazine, drugs, and illegal cannabis and cigarettes were all confiscated through those investigations.
Kelowna drivers had the most tickets or warnings given during the campaign, tallying 390.
