The Smithers Rotary Club held their 53rd annual auction Wednesday and Thursday evening.
Items spanning from chicken dinners to Pokemon cards, to a trip to Hawaii helped raise over $35,000 for the club and community.
Coordinator Frank Wiliams calls it one of the most successful ones yet, a large part of which was because of the addition of online bidding.
“The online component this year definitely brought a lot of new bidders, people that we previously hadn’t seen bidding at our auction and hopefully helped us get it out to more of the community,” he says.
Half of the money will go to the Smithers Mountain Bike Association to help build and maintain youth trails. The other half will fund future projects.
