UPDATE: Skatepark Presentation Postponed

UPDATE: Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting regarding the proposed new Skatepark has been postponed to July 7th, 2015.

The postponement is because too few council members attend the June 25th meeting.

A Committee of the Whole meeting today could decide the fate of a new Smithers skate park.

The Boarding 4 Brant group will be presenting the $544 250 addition to the current park. The group will be paying for it while the Town will ultimately own and operate it.

Vancouver-based skate park designer Spectrum Skateparks, Inc. would construct the 10,000 square-foot expansion.

The company has built 84 parks in the past five years across eight Canadian provinces, and overseas in Israel, France, and the UK.

Today’s meeting will be in the Council Chambers at noon.
