After an ice jam caused flooding to the Bulkley River, the Town of Smithers has issued an Evacuation Alert.

It’s for the 2100 blocks of Main Street and Riverside Drive.

This EVACUATION ALERT has been issued to prepare you to evacuate your home or business should it be found necessary. Residents will be given as much notice as possible prior to evacuation; however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.

  • Preparing to move any disabled persons and/or children.
  • Moving pets and livestock to a safe area.
  • Arranging to transport your household members or co-workers in the event of an evacuation order. If you need transportation, please call Emergency Management BC at 1-800-663-3456.
