Bear activity closes Tyhee Lake campground and trail

BC Parks has closed the Tyhee Lake campground and Aldermere trail for the rest of the season.

It went into effect at 11 a.m. today due to an increased presence of black bears in the area.

The province said there is a possibility the closure will be lifted depending on bear activity.

It said the beach and boat launch will remain open due to lower bear activity, asking users keep attractants secure, ensure children are nearby, and keep pets on a leash.

Bear sightings and aggressive wildlife can be reported the Conservation Officer Service RAPP line at 1-877-652-7277.
