Diane Black to run for Conservatives in Nechako Lakes riding

The provincial Conservatives have handpicked the person they believe will succeed John Rustad in the legislature.

Diane Black was announced as the party’s Nechako Lakes candidate for the October 24th provincial election.

Black is a 3rd generation rancher who believes those working hard to build a life for their families can have safe, affordable housing, clean air and water, and stable employment that doesn’t require relocation.

She is the great granddaughter of Vanderhoof’s first doctor; holding firm that health care should be delivered in the north.

Black is a Chartered Professional Accountant, with an MBA, bringing experience across the agriculture, energy, logging, transportation and advanced education sectors.

She is the Associate Vice President Finance for Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, securing major funding and successfully led projects, which expanded training opportunities in the Merritt-area.

Black will run against NDP hopeful Jesse Gervais.

Rustad announced last week he was not seeking re-election ending a career in provincial politics that spanned two decades.
