Residents can now hail a ride in Burns Lake

Taxi service is available in Burns Lake after former Dawson Creek taxi driver Ahmed Muse moved to the community and launched the business.

Muse said he went to the village office looking for a map after stopping in the community due to poor driving conditions and asked if there was a taxi service.

“The reason I asked is because Houston has no taxi either,” said Muse. “I used to live in Houston for one year and if you’re trying to go around there’s no taxi.”

Muse said he immediately began filling out the paperwork to operate a taxi service and moved to the village after submitting the application.

Burns Lake Taxi primarily serves Burns Lake and offers rides between Houston and Fraser Lake.

The service currently operates one vehicle with plans to expand to a two-vehicle fleet in the future, according to Muse.

Bookings can be made by calling the taxi’s telephone line at (250) 806-0105.
