The Smithers Steelheads, who were playing on home ice for the first time this season, lost 6-5 to the Hazelton Wolverines on Saturday in the Central Interior Hockey League (CIHL).
Former PG Cougar Josh Maser scored the winning goal for the Wolverines, who led 2-0 after the first period but trailed 4-3 after 40 minutes.
Curtis Billstein notched a hat trick in a losing cause for the Steelheads.
Both teams are off until the new year.
Hazelton will host the Kitimat Ice Demons on January 6th, and Smithers will visit the Williams Lake Stampeders a week later.
