Gas prices drop ahead of the Christmas weekend

Gas prices are the lowest they’ve been in about a year and a half according to data by Gas Buddy.

As of today (Wednesday), the average price of gas in northwestern BC is $1.659 per litre and $1.504 in the northeast.

This isn’t far off the average prices this time last year with the northwest averaging $1.699 per litre and the northeast hovering around $1.549.

No new highest gas prices were set this year in each region as they remained below the $2 mark that was crossed in 2022.

The highest average price for 2023 was experienced through the northwest in September at $1.989 per litre.

For the northeast, average prices only went up to $1.719 per litre in June.

Prices in the northwest region remained between 15 and 40 cents above the national average this year while the northeast dropped slightly below that near the end of August.
