Cuba headed to Latin Grammys

Alex Cuba will be in Las Vegas Thursday night for the 16th Annual Latin Grammys, hoping to add two more awards to his trophy case.

He’s already won three, including “Best New Artist” in 2010, and his latest release “Healer” has been nominated for Best “Singer-Songwriter Album.”

Cuba says he’s up against some tough competition and he’s honoured to have been nominated.

“Each one of the five nominees in there are very prolific, well-known, and well-recognized singer-songwriters from all over Latin America,” he says, “I’m proud to be there. It’s quite cool to be a part of the nominations in a year where good music is happening.”

Cuba is also nominated for “Best Tropical Song” for his help writing “Ya Comenzó” by Luis Enrique.

The awards will be at the MGM Grand Garden Arena November 19th.
