The new Lakes District Hospital and Health Centre will be opening tomorrow for regular use.
Northern Health Lakes District Health Service Administrator Marie Hunter says the emergency will be open at 6 am and in-patients will be moved over after breakfast.
“There has been an incredible amount of work done in a short time and an amazing team that has done it,” she says. “Now it is actually happening and we have done our phased in moving and it has been done in a very compressed time frame.”
The $55 million facility opened six months of ahead of schedule. The old hospital will be demolished in the spring and the space will be used for parking.
