Northern Development unveiled their total funding requests from May, and their plan to help local economies.
The Initiative Trust helps funds projects focused on strengthening Central and Northern BC economies.
ND received 42 applications in May, many of which will receive funding.
Director of Communications Joel McKay says their initial investment can kick-start more funding.
“We’re just one small a[prt of the pie in the region in helping to strengthen the economy, but because we’re often the first to say yes to these projects, we help to bring a lot of legitimacy to a project and leverage other funding dollars from other funding organisations,” he says.
Northern Development received two requests from the Bulkley Valley in May: one was for the Smither’s Mountain Bike Association and one from Houston Hiker’s Society.
ND has had seventeen requests from the Bulkley Valley this year.
