Smithers losing its detachment commander to Terrace

Staff Sergeant Terry Gillespie has announced that he will be leaving the Smithers detachment.

He will be heading to the Terrace detachment after nearly three years with the Smithers RCMP where he is in the process of becoming a commissioned officer where he will then be promoted to inspector.

Gillespie told Town Council at Tuesday’s Council Meeting that this change will be occurring during 2022.

Prior to joining the Smithers Detachment Gillespie was Sergeant at the Queen Charlotte detachment before he took over the role of Staff Sergeant from Darin Durnin.

According to a news release, Gillespie was appointed to the role after a nationwide search in collaboration with RCMP and the City of Terrace.
