Fire causes damage to three homes in Quesnel

A house fire in Quesnel’s Carson Subdivision also damaged neighbouring houses.

Quesnel Fire Department Fire Chief Ron Richert says Fire Crews were called to a residential structure fire at 7:22 p.m. yesterday (Friday) in the 1300 block of Netterfield Street.

“Upon arrival, our duty officer had heavy flames from the roof of the building,” Richert says. “Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire and then gain entry into the building to properly extinguish the flames from the inside.”

The Fire Department was on the scene for just under four hours and had to use its ladder truck to hose water down onto the roof of the building.

In total, there were four engines and 20 firefighters on scene.

Neighbouring houses had wall damage, and exterior siding melted from the heat and flames.

Richert says no one was injured in the fire.

“There was one person home at the time of the fire, and they were able to get out safely.”

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
