Williams Lake man charged in connection with fatal accident near Lytton

44-year old Joel Chenier is facing one count of driving without due care and attention under the BC Motor Vehicle Act.

Sergeant Michael McLaughlin, Media Relations Officer with BC Highway Patrol, says RCMP were called to the scene of an accident just before 5 p.m. on August 14, 2025.

“A black SUV collided with a grey GMC pickup on Highway 1, just south of Lytton. Two people died, four people were injured, and both vehicles were destroyed by fire.”

McLaughlin says in the weeks following the collision, conduct of the file was transferred to BC Highway Patrol.
