The first baby of 2024 born in Smithers has been announced by Northern Health.
Elias Benjamin van de Water was born on Wednesday, January 3rd to parents Shane and Lisa van de Water at 8:25 a.m. at the Bulkley Valley District Hospital.
He was six pounds, one ounce.
The first baby born in Northern BC was Holland, who arrived at 1:04 in the morning on January 1st at UHNBC in Prince George to Jaden and Amy Janzen of Burns Lake.
In BC, the first baby of 2024 was born at the stroke of midnight at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster.
