Hudson Bay Mountain set to open two weeks early

Hudson Bay Mountain is opening two weeks early for the first time in 10 years.

“For this weekend, it is just going to be the Panorama T-Bar from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,” said General Manager Lex Rei-Jones.

She added the resort was able to open a week ahead of its scheduled opening on December 6th.

“As always, you should be looking out for early season hazards but we are pretty fortunate with the snow coverage right now,” Rei-Jones said.

The one lift will be the only one operating this and next weekend with all runs from it open, five to six will be groomed.

“The stars aligned, the lift is ready to go, we have some returning staff in town, and most importantly we’ve got the snow,” said Rei-Jones.

It is being sponsored by Smithers Toyota and will start on Saturday.
