Smithers showcases lip sync talent

The Smithers Multicultural Society hosted a lip sync battle Saturday evening to help raise funds for its Multicultural Festival in November.

The event was able to raise about $1,000 as over 50 people attended and participated.

“It’s getting harder and harder to get grants and that so that was the purpose of it, and to have fun,” said Chair Patricia Kolida.

“It was a lot of fun. There was a lot of positive remarks and that so we might tweak it a little bit, may include kids next time,” said Kolida.

She added future fundraiser events may be held leading up to the festival, with one idea being a dessert fair similar to one the society had in the past.

The society will be announcing the exact date of its Multicultural Festival in the future.
