The first-ever United Way Tour through Northern BC is back in the Bulkley Valley.
The bus made a stop in downtown Smithers today and will head to Burns Lake tomorrow.
The United Tour will be spread over 5 weeks and hit 20 communities in Northern BC in hopes of spreading their message to locals.
“Northern BC residents are quite generous and we want to advocate for these programs and donors to let them know we are here to help,” says Northern United Way Campaign Manager Roberta Squire “The communities thus far have been amazing.” says Squire “Mayors are coming out and area residents are waving their hands at the tour bus. It’s simply incredible to see such community involvement.”
Squire says the first annual United Tour has been a success so far and wants the public to be aware of one very cool opportunity.
“For the first time ever, we’re doing a 50/50 lotto exclusively to Northern residents of BC. Someone in the region will have the opportunity to win themselves $50,000. The other side of that will see $50,000 invested back into northern communities, so it’s a great initiative.”
The $50,000 draw will be made on the final stop of the United Tour June 14th in Taylor, BC.
United Way Northern BC is an umbrella organization that raises money and invests in over 500 local community programs; more than 120 organizations; 86 aboriginal communities and 5 regional districts across the entire province.
