Record Attendance at Mother’s Day Run

It was a Mother’s Day to remember for a local store and the Smithers Diabetes Association.

McBike & Sport held their annual Mother’s day run this weekend, inviting everyone out to bike, run, or walk along the 5 or 10 km track.

This year set an attendance record of 162 participants, breaking a 5-year record of 150.

McBike & Sport owner Peter Krause (krOW-se) says when this many people attend, the real winner is the Diabetes Association.

“A little bit more awareness for people. We had a couple of runners that are diabetics and had really good placings. It’s just good for them to have more funding for local. stuff,” he says.

Krause adds it’s important to run community events such as this to give back to the Bulkley Valley
