Local roads get facelift Following Long Weekend

Smithereens may have noticed new temporary lines painted on the street while they were driving downtown or near the airport.

These temporary marks are indicators of permanent crosswalk, stop, and centre lines to be created or fixed.

Small pylons will be set up during painting to remind the public not to step or drive in wet paint.

Smithers Development Services Director Mark Allen says this construction will be going on for a while.

“typically, it takes about a month to complete all the line markings in town, so we’re hoping that by around mid-June all the markings will be complete.

Painting is set to begin following the upcoming long weekend.
