Local Golfer one step closer to Canadian Open

One local athlete is taking the hopeful steps to play at the Canadian Open.

Kaleb Gorbahn finished in the top 5 today at the RBC Canadian Open Qualifiers at Squamish Valley Golf Course. This earns him an invitation to Alberton, Ontario to the next round of qualifiers.

He finished an even par after a strong -4 through his first 9 holes, which means he is off to Alberton, Ontario in mid-July.

An amateur golfer freshman at Holy Cross College in Indiana, Gorbahn says his dad is one of his biggest inspirations.

“I always try to act like he acts on the golf course or perform like him or be gracious like him”

Kaleb’s father, Dana Gorbahn,is currently coaching the Smithers Secondary Golf team at the AA Provincial finals in Vernon.

If Kaleb finishes in the top 4 at the next qualifier in Alberton, Ontario on July 15th, he could be on the card at the next Canadian open.
